How do I add water w/o causing problems?

Quick question for all you smart people out there (the more I read on here the more I realize I don't know!). I have an old KUHL forced air incubator with a big glass dome. It runs like a champ, but how do I add water to this thing (between day 18 - 21) w/o messing up the whole hatch? This glass dome doesn't have holes or plugs. I have to lift it in order to get a tube inside to add water. My concern is if humidity is low on like day 19 what should I do? ..... all I've read is DON'T OPEN, DON'T OPEN the lid.... so I'm thinking... yikes what do I do? Any words of wisdom?

If you have to open to add water you have to open, there is not a lot else you can do. Humidity is created by the surface area of water and not the depth so if you can try to add sponges with warm water on too that should help.
Generally too once you have chicks that start hatching that should also bumb up the humidity too as they are wet and create humidity themselves.

Yes, I agree. I had pretty much come to the same conclusion that it would just have to be done. I like the sponge idea and will give that a shot. I'm also considering running a tube through a small hole in the side wall and feeding water in that way. Seems I can use the same hole the egg turner rod sticks through, and being the turner is off for the last 3 - 5 days I'm thinking it will work.

Sounds like you've got it worked out.

If there is space to squeeze a tube or straw into the hole with the turner rod, I think that should work out just fine. Good luck on your hatch. I hope you get lots of cute fluffies!
