Ok. I have a silkie but she’s never layered an egg or gone broody. I’ll have to get a incubator. What kinds do you recommend?

it's the Roo's, my very first roo had been doing great, then all of a sudden he started trying to spur me and he was well past his hormone stage. Then I had his son who started getting stupid, both of those are residing in my freezer, I'm taking the last batch of that group out of my main flock, waiting a while isn't a big deal really, I've got a friend who's needing some chicks hatched, if it's only two weeks wait time, then it would be ok to hatch out of that coop. I think it's been a month already and the roo's that are going to the bachelor pad are not quite the "sowing the wild oats" age.I personally wait a month, but I’ve heard it be said at the least to wait 2 weeks. If you have time and patience to wait a month I’d wait it to ensure it’s fertilized by the right rooster.
A mean gene from a rooster or a hen? I have a mean rooster but I’m thinking it’s more due to not handling him while he was a chick and not so much because he’s inherently mean![]()
This is what I have and I know there are folks out there with others that might chime in, I've had better luck with this one than I did my 24 count, but then it's a cheap one as well, I'll find the link for it, but I have a thing that shows temp and humidity that I add to it, so far I've had decent hatches, due to the size of my eggs, all I can get in there are 6 eggs, this hatch I got 4 little chickies, had a early quitter and late quitter https://www.ebay.com/itm/9-12Egg-In...638224&hash=item216b3d2eef:g:~DkAAOSwD9JeR1C3Ok. I have “Wild” Roos that are still nice. I also HAD a very handled roo that was a real a$$. He was good to me, but he would take on anyone else... some are just mean.I personally wait a month, but I’ve heard it be said at the least to wait 2 weeks. I have one of those too. It’s surprisingly good for as cheap as it is, but I can’t get more than nine in there. Had a big one go bad and I stuck them in there in a pinch and just turned them manually, and it worked like a charmThis is what I have and I know there are folks out there with others that might chime in, I've had better luck with this one than I did my 24 count, but then it's a cheap one as well, I'll find the link for it, but I have a thing that shows temp and humidity that I add to it, so far I've had decent hatches, due to the size of my eggs, all I can get in there are 6 eggs, this hatch I got 4 little chickies, had a early quitter and late quitter https://www.ebay.com/itm/9-12Egg-In...638224&hash=item216b3d2eef:g:~DkAAOSwD9JeR1C3
