How do I crumble food for quail

How do I crumble purina layena for quail I bought the 25lb bag and I forgot to ask if thy had crumble so I'm stuck with this for now anyway how do I crumble it?

I had that happen once. I just put it an a gallon size plastic baggie, wrapped it in a towel, and crushed it with a hammer.

I've also used a coffee grinder, but it is very easy to go from crumbles to powder.

i use a nija the one that you get at walmart ...i just throw my dry feed in the and zip takes about 15 seconds or so but watch close it will turn to powder on you quickly

I grind ALL my feed, I use a blender, turns it into "cormeal" consistancy in about 20 seconds per quart.

and because of the open blade arrangement, it is not bad to overgrind. (once the pieces are fairly small, it just knocks them out of the way)

I put the pellets in one of my big ole socks, put a couple of clothes pins on the ends and use the other halfs rolling pin. Works good for me. Turns pellets into crumbles instead of powder.

Be careful not to powder their food too much, especially for chicks. The powder will enter their lungs and can lead to infection.
