How do I cut off my roosters spurs?

My roosters dont even squirm when I do it..... so it must not hurt TOO bad.

Have had good results just using a hacksaw (only take the `unblooded' tips off - he needs the rest of his spurs). But, a good round/triangular file will work (twenty minutes instead of the 5 for the hacksaw).

Some pics of the filing (was in for soak and dressing change for `bumble foot'/pododermatitis - Cass put him to sleep in my lap with the filing): http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c331/IvanIvanovich/Dispurs/

I use the dog nippers. It's very fast and doesn't seem to hurt him at all. There is some bleeding but it stops shortly afterwards. I leave about a half inch of spur.
