How do I entertain a single chick?

One of my hens hatched an egg and I took the chick to raise because my coop is not set up for little ones, but I can’t be around the chick all the time and I’d like to try to find some ways to help entertain her while I’m away. I’d get her some siblings if I could, but finding a couple two day old chicks at the end of September sadly hasn’t been successful. What are some things I can add to my brooder to keep her happy?

We're you concerned about a height issue with the nest or coop? The other chickens? Some people use stuffed toys. The best bet, if your issues can be amended, would be to return the chick to its mom, if she'll accept it.

Mirrors, I've read, are good, too. but a friend is really what's best. I raised a solo chick once. I'll never raise just one anymore. Poor thing is always picked on and has become a little neurotic.
