How do I feed 21 chickens that are all together?

Awsome ill try that one, i got two clear totes on clearance yesterday. Ill visit lowes on the weekend for the pvc elbows
The conflicts you observed may be the result of cutting the protein component of diet to too much with corn. Ignoring the calcium issue already pointed out, the layer feed is already formulated to be the minimum protein needed to support mature hens in lay under ideal conditions. That protein level is less than in a flock raiser formulation. Two low of protein can lead to social issues.

The brand I use (Poulin, a Vermont family owned company) has Layer at 16.5% protein, Grower at 15%. Their Egg Production Plus is 18% and actually has a little less calcium than the Layer.

I originally designed and Ken and I built this to feed fermented feed. Although we realized that FF wasn't going to work well for us, the feeder stayed up and we used it for their All Flock. (I've also used Grower/starter if my feed store was out of All Flock with great success) This feeder looks funny, but it's easy to build and my 22 birds did very well with it. We put a brick at one end for the bantams and Silkies, but there was plenty of room at the feeder, they didn't tromp in or on it, they didn't bill food out as badly because it was more difficult for them to do that, and a lot of them could feed at one time. The top was slippery, so they couldn't perch on top. I hope this helps you...

I love it!!!! I was kind of thinking something like that. Hope they dont roost and poop in it lol

They can't. That's what I liked best about it. There is only enough space between the feeder portion and the top to get their heads in and feed, and yet there's plenty of space so their combs and wattles don't get nicked or bruised. The top, which is half of the rain gutter cut off and flipped upside down, is too slick for them to get a grip to roost. And on the chains like it is, it moves so they don't feel secure even if they could land up there.
