How do I get barred offspring from a mottled chicken?

I'm not sure what I mean. Is F1 black the black offspring? Is that what I should use to breed back to the mottled Houdans, or will some first generations show barring, or will I get a little of both?

This is kind of old but...

Simplest fix: order some Cuckoo Dorkings from Sand Hill. You'll get nice meat type, fifth toe, and the correct color skin/shanks. I've heard the egg color from Sand Hill birds is also pale to white, though I'm not sure about the Cuckoo.

Plus, I just really want to see some photos of the Cuckoo Dorkings from Sand Hill!

I think if you used the Cuckoo Dorking, you might actually create a really good dual purpose Houdan....(Or any Dorking, really, regardless of color.)

I have an order from sandhill coming next month, and I have been considering doing just that. Do you know what percent would be barred vs mottled?
