How do I get pasty butt off?

I take a pair of small, very sharp scissors and cut the clump of poop off very carefully. After a time or two doing that there's no down left for the poop to stick to anymore. It's faster and less stressful than soaking butts for 10 minutes.

Yup I always use olive oil afterwards. I usually just soak them for about 1 minute then pull it off with tweezers. Sometimes some feathers come with it but oh well. Seems like they grow out of it within the first 2 weeks.

I just realized how easy it is to clean pasty butt. Q tips or cotton swabs are excellent!!!!!!!!!!!! Just roll it around on their butt and wallahhh!!!!!! Its gone. Works really well. Just dip the swab or q tip in warm water. I then use scissors and shave there behinds so that it cant happen again.

I also put their butt under warm running water for a few minutes and it just washes away. Then I use tiny scissors to cut all the fluff from near the vent so it can't stick again. This seems gentle and solves the problem for good. I think they kind of like the warm bath!

My daughter recommended ACV (apple cider vinegar) in the water, but I don't remember how much (it wasn't much). Anyone tried that? I don't have any personal experience yet.

all my chicks got pasty butt 3 days after coming home from the farm store. plastic bowl filled with warm water and a set of wash cloths set aside for such an event. put their rears in the water to soak then use the cloths to wipe the poo off then dry and use bag balm or vaseline around the vent area. after that i didnt have to clean them again but keep an eye on them.

pasty butt is caused from stress esspecially shipping stress!
