how do i get rid of a skunk

I had a skunk living under my summer house up in the mountains. Skunks love dog food. I started feeding it. Every day, I would move the bowl a little farther.

Finally, I was feeding it under a house about six houses away. The people that own that house only come up there about once a month.

Now they have a skunk.

The skunk had to get in there some how. I think the best thing to do would be to find how it got in there, set a trap outside, wait for the skunk to leave and get caught in the trap and then your problem's solved (except now you would have an angry skunk in the trap).

ok i didn't read thru all the posts but this is what i was told when we had 1 under our trailer.
keep a radio on low at all times and spray ammonia around any opening you can find no matter how small.
Or if your like me and have little boys who seem always to be peeing outside have them pee is special places this works with ground hogs too.

to use a live trap cover the trap with a blanket so you aprouch it from covered side and keep it covered till emptied. bad part of this could be anything in the trap.

the pee/radio trick worked for us skunk and its kits left my home and went to live with my neighbors cats. he called to thank me. lol goodluck

Something that gets me is People say dont do this dont do that. I had a lady disagree with me once about drowning a rat. or using the tail pipe method. She was 100% against any killing of rats. then I read her sig it said I do not own any chickens But I got pet hamsters and rats.

of course you do. I thought. Eradication is the best method IMO and I have shot endless numbers of skunks in my lifetime. the only true way for a skunk to not spray is to Kill it instantly. if the brain has even 1 second to respond what do you think the responce is? Low traps work best so the skunk cant lift its tail up.
