how do I get the eggs to candle?

at night? but when I go in there with a flashlight, my broodys wake up and puff at me when I get close to them? I really want to candle (and my kids want to see that too!) and I would like to mark the eggs... Will she attack us???

Do I just reach under her and check out each egg?

Yep, long sleeves, strong gloves...

Just kidding! They will not be happy with the intrusion, but if you are quick and careful they'll forgive you. And their pecks aren't so bad.

It depends on the temperament of your broody, if she pecks you and it hurts badly you can wear gloves to grab the eggs. It's best not to candle eggs too often because it will reduce the chances of the chick hatching out, especially if the eggs are in lockdown ( when they are on the 18th day and you stop turning the egg) when they are near hatching date.
