how do i help a chick with pasty but

You take a wet paper towel to her rear. You can also put some baby/veg oil on it to help prevent it again but its generally a sign she getting to hot. Does she have the ability to get away from the heat lamp or heat source you have for them?

It must be gently washed off asap. Use a warm damp cloth. Make sure brooder isn't too warm and the chicks have an area to get away from the warmth when they need to.
If it reoccurs, give them moistened feed.

Same problem here with one chick. Brooder temp says 90, and all the chicks are evenly distributed in the brooder. I keep changing the water with fresh whenever I see poop in it. At least 4 times a day. All are drinking and eating. When should I see improvement with the one chick?
