Oh , I HAVE to update this.
Chick stuck its head into the empty shell last night> I thought silly chicken and refused to open the bator to remove it. Well, it stuck to it all night. This morning before work I grabbed it out quickly to break off the shell and then realized the chick was bone dry and no fluff at all.
So... I ran it under warm water to get some moisture onto the skin and stuck it back under the bater. At this point it wasn't walkign either.
I think it was stuck to itself so now it is up and walking and pecking and peeping-- but still hasn't much fluff. I am thinking it needs a bath and more time in the bator.
Nothing else has even pipped or moved.
TSC only had production reds in today. Will call tomorrow to see what else comes in. If this one wants to live, it can't be an only chick.
Has anyone given an newly hatched chick a bath? ( I'm thinking warm water only.) Is it better to do it now or let it get even stronger?
Opinions? Humidity in bator still only 55%. I am making improvement plans for next time.
