how do I introduce a new hen

Last night I lost one of my 8 week old girls. I only have 1 outside and 4 2 week olds in the house. I want to get another one for my girl outside. I am going to get one today . Heres my question. Do I just put her in the run or wait until its dark and put her in the coop? How long will it take for them to get used to each other?

First you will need to separate her a long ways away from the rest of your birds for 30 days. This is to make sure the new bird does not have any diseases.

After the 30 days, you can build a temporary pen next to your normal flock and put the new hen in the temp pen. This is done to get the new and old birds used to seeing each other. After a couple weeks, you can introduce the new hen into the flock pen.
