Hello I live in Southern California and recently there’s been new of earthquakes coming since we just had our big one ! Many aftershocks and possibly an even bigger one in the next few days!
When the 6.5 or something earthquake hit one of my sheep (month old male sheep) was on the floor as if he had fainted. He stood up just fine with no injuries but that got me thinking! How do I keep my goats sheep chickens and ducks safe during an earthquake ?

Good questions. Same as how you keep yourself and your family safe. Make sure there aren't things that can fall on them during the shaking. They will weather it just fine if they don't get crushed. Having lived in So Cal for 40 years, prior to the last 20 seemingly calm years, I don't get very alarmed at them. I might if I had to live or work in a high rise. But even those are safer today than they used to be.

Keeping them in a safe spot may be the best you can do. Outdoors in the open is safer than in a barn which could collapse or under trees or rocks that could fall. I would also say that checking on them to make sure they still have good food and water after the quake is important too (like if a trough flips or spills or something).
