well noodle has been broody about 15 days now and i have eggs to be here monday but i dont want her to give up and have paid money to get these eggs and her quit. shes about a year and a half old or less im not sure. and she has never had biddies before but has been broody before a lot from what the guy told me. her breed is a silkie/ ameraucana and i know silkies are the broody type but i dont know really if she will give up. have any of you had a hen give up and what was the time period? im just worried about it cause i have no back up plan if all else fails.

There's no telling if/when they will give up. They're all different. Some would sit on wooden eggs until they would die of starvation/dehydration without human intervention. Others sit for a few days, shrug and abandon the endeavor. You might work on having a backup, just in case. A basic incubator really is not hard to make. I made one out of a $2 styrofoam cooler.

Good luck!
