How do I know when to give up on a baby chick?

Maybe mix up some sugar water (or do you have any gatorade?) and dip a q-tip in it. Then smear a tiny bit on the side of its bill. If it's still alive that might give it a boost. I may have already asked this, but what day is it on?

It pipped 48-72 hours ago. This morning is when I took it out of the egg

This spring I had a poorly chick, assisted hatch, that for a whole day didn’t fluff up or move much-it was getting trampled by other chicks in the incubator, I thought she was hopeless. I did what others are suggesting here- gave it a bit of sugar water, a quick bath in warm water and popped it back in the incubator propped up inside a paper bowl to keep the others from trampling her. After the bath she fluffed up nicely and started moving around and gaining strength. It was almost as if the sticky feathers were keeping her from being able to move properly...And she just recently started laying!

I’d try the bath(I used running water) what I got off mine was really sticky like hardened glue-I don’t think a wet paper towel would have been sufficient. Of course make sure hes still breathing first- and keep his head out of the water obviously...
