I went to the feed store and desparatley wanted another chick but I need to know what to look for to get an EE. I've heard they have chimpmunk like coloring but what else should I look for?

Not hard to tell for me, just follow the chipmunk coloring.

I think the chipmunk coloring is not the best differentiating factor as there are other breeds that carry that same chipmunk pattern when they are baby chicks, try to look for puffy chicks as they will already have the beards EEs usually have, also look for green or slate colored legs. And on my experience they are usually a little bigger than the other chicks.

I have one with what the girls call ' puffy cheeks. definate an ee.We also have 3 that are golden laced wyandottes, and 3 that are dark cornish bulldog. The cornish are chipmunk color ,so for a detirmination on color is not a science.

Not all EE's have that coloring even at the hatchery

and several other breeds do. Puffy cheeks and green legs are your best bet...some hatchery birds have slate but the majority will be green...EE's don't have to be clean legged
