how do i make my duck sit on its nest!

    i had a male and a female aylesbury duck i saw them both mating then the male died [​IMG]a couple of days later i found a nest so i moved her and her nest into a cage and now she just keeps dropping eggs around the cage and not in the nest i kept moving the nest around and today i actually saw her sitting on them for about 5 mins how can i make her stay on them?

    You can't. Becoming broody is a hormonal thing.

    They will gather a clutch and then sit so the best thing to do if the eggs are in a safe location is to let her build her own nest. If you are concerned about the safety of her eggs, collect them until she is sitting and then put them under her. You may be able to substitute nest eggs or cheap chicken eggs if she can't tell the difference. If you gather the eggs together she may get the idea but messing with the eggs too much can cause her to abandon them.
