What would you recommend putting in this heated pet bowl? It's big, but too small for a 5 gallon bucket. Our metal waterer won't fit either. I want to keep debris out and maybe store more water somehow.

Any suggests and pictures would be great! Thanks.

Images can be deceiving...how wide is it?

Isn't this meant to be used as-is (so water right in the basin), and not as a heated base?
Tho I have seen one iteration were they set a plastic gravity water down inside.
Another said they were going to put a jug with holes inside it.

I've read of people using these different ways, I'd like to know as well. I'm currently using mine as is, it stays pretty clean. Not frozen at least.

I just used a lid from a 5 gal pail with a hole cut out on top and used the bowl as is. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I tried the bucket in the bowl last year for the ducks and it was a failure.

Pics?

Don’t mind the poo on top, that’s part of the reason for the lid. (There’s a roost above it) 🤭 I scrape it when I scrape down the roosts in the morning. It also helps with evaporation, at least I hope it does, since most of the surface area is covered. The best part is that my very mentally challenged (and half blind apparently) silkie can use it with no issue. I tried nipple waterers and no matter what she did, she couldn’t figure it out. So the quail have a very nice bucket nipple waterer inspired by your aquarium heater one! 👍
