If you kill one preator, another will show up to take it's place.

You can put up an enclosure of heavy duty bird netting for about 30 cents per square foot. It will foil a hawk and possibly a coyote, but not a racoon or fox.

I have electric wires around my coops and pens, good heavy duty netting covering all of the pens and concrete under all of the gates all due to losses from predators in the past. Lessons learned the hard way. The birds have adjusted well and now prefer to stay in their nice large pens.
