How do I select the right RIR rooster for my flock?

I had 3 and I kept Don because he was always curious of me even as a chick, he was developing and growing faster than his brothers, he has a nice dark color, his tail feathers were nicely iridescent green (before his girls pulled them out) and he protects his girls.

Took this pic this morning, he had nice long tail feathers. One day I noticed he had 2 the next day they were gone, they are growing back. He's about twice the hens size as you can see in the pic.

wow nice, how old are your birds? I hope mine are still growing into that.

Geared up very nice REds. Love the flat back on that rooster May I ask where you got your starter stock? I am looking to get some nice reds this spring.

If you go to this page:

and scroll down to the chicken section, there are some very interesting articles about how to select which chickens to breed. It says in there somewhere that the hen determines the size of the offspring, but the cock determines the color, so you may be OK to go with your dark red runt.
