How do I tame my once sweet rooster?

My golden laced wyandotte roo was lovely and even timid last summer. This year he is so so aggressive. I'm trying to handle him frequently to remind him who his momma is, but realistically I have no idea what I'm doing.

A year old is rather late in my opinion to start being agressive and have hopes of rehabilitation. Stop handling him, you're just acting like a submissive when you pet him.

Act like he doesn't exist and see if that works

Doesn't matter. Puberty is when the bird becomes sexually mature, this bird is past that stage.
