How do I tell Seramas From Japs? HELP

I think you can get some 'C' sized birds from Jerry S for free. Thats what I read on his website last year. He sells the smaller ones. C birds can produce some 'B' sized birds. 'B' sized can produce 'A' sized. If you can find his website it is very educational. I believe all seramas originated from the birds he imported years ago. And because they are a land race, like was mentioned earlier, there will be many not up to the 'standard'.


I dont think you would really be able to tell for sure if they were crossed or not till they fully matured. I have seen some 'serama' that were bbred and supposedly bred 'true' to color. I would suspect those were 'crossed'. I have also seen some that have a more oegame shape in the neck(shorter and more bullish) than a serama. I would say to check for the wings being long and verticle as much as possible, and longer legs, and an overall verticle appearance. . In my experience the breast doesnt develope fully till after 6 months to a year or even a bit longer.

Add on: They do mature very very young, but the ones I have had take a long time to come into their own with the shape. I have some 5 month pullets that are just now starting to really put their tails up and their chests developing nicely an standing nicely. The roo I have didnt really get his chesty look till he was about a year old. And the OEG pair I had were smaller too.
