I never leave Lexi alone with the chickens unsupervised. They see each other everyday and I correct her if she's out of line. Last night one of the chickens escaped via pine tree and Lexi was pretty rough with her, needless to say she didn't make it through the night. I was pretty upset because she was my prettiest hen. Lexi is still young and I can't blame her. I've heard they shouldn't be unsupervised around poultry until about 12-18mths, not sure if that's true. She's is fine around our turkeys thankfully. I just need advice on where to go from here. Any helpful advice is welcome.

well, here is what i do with my dogs, though i don't have any LGDs. Something that some of my dogs have needed is a shock collar, especially the stubborn/really high drive dogs. I use the collar as a training tool to teach them to ignore the chickens. once they associate the uncomfortable shock with messing with the chickens, they usually leave them alone. The downside of this, is you will have to get a long range remote control collar and if she messes with them while you are not having a training session, she could learn you are the one controling the collar. Before deciding to use a shock collar as a training aid, do research for yourself, and decide if it is right for your dog based on her personality. It can mess some dogs up, but sometimes i use it to teach my independent and bold dogs the word no.

Another method that may seem terrible and gross, but really works, is when she kills a bird, tie it around her neck for a day. After 1 or 2 times of this, the dog will hate the smell of chickens, and should leave them alone. I have a friend who does this with all her dogs, and swears by it. I've never tried it, but i am usually training protection/sport dogs, not just LGDs or farm dogs, so it do a ton of 1 on 1 and hands on training. She teaches them to be more independent and work well on the farm with her animals without her commanding them. My dogs are more trained to work with me, but i can't have them hurting my animals while they are running about. Anyway, this is just some of what i do.
