Hello, How do I continue to feed my chicks grower feed when I integrate my chicks into the layer flock around six to eight weeks and the layer hens eat layer feed?

Feed to the youngest group, and provide Oyster Shells free choice for the layers.

I am in the same situation and plan to do what Cats Critters suggested. My hens are currently on layer and have Shell free choice. Despite the calcium content of the layer feed, they actually do still eat a little shell. I anticipate that their shell consumption will go up once they are back on Flock Raiser but it will only be for the 12 weeks or so that it takes the younger chicks to be laying and able to switch to layer again.

Hello to Wichita. I was born and raised in KS, and spent a lot of time in Wichita. Moved due to work and its been about 25 years since I've been back. Miss it. You've brought back some very fond memories. Thanks

Thank you all for the feedback... I may just keep them seperated up to 8 weeks to keep the chicks on grower and the hens on layer the extra two weeks then do as Cats Critters suggests...this sight is great...always help when needed....
