How do people get such good chicken pictures?

I feel you pain, My chickens will stand still for three days and never even blink. As soon as I get my camera out, that start tap dancing!!!!!

Sometimes I can get mine to stand still by making a funny noise. They stop and look at me like I am crazy, sometimes I even get that great head tilt look.

I've tried that and it worked once or twice but now they ignore me again.

I've tried the bribing thing and then you can get group shots but not individuals.

I've also taken LOTS of picture but I don't know if I've quite hit the 400 mark. I'll have to take a few hundred more yet.

It is like getting a good picture of a baby or toddler. You either wait until they are asleep, or take 500 pictures to get 5 good ones.

BTW- you only want to take that many pics with a digital camera. Otherwise you should just start drawing the chickens. Cheaper.

Okay... here goes...

First, a good camera helps. I use a Nikon D60 DSLR and love it. Set the shutter speed to the fastest possible.
Second, take HUNDREDS- literally HUNDREDS- of pics AT ONE TIME of THE SUBJECT YOU ARE FOCUSING ON. Seriously. The ratio of good to bad is about 300 bad to 1 good. But hey. It's digital!
Third, friendly chickens that don't run away make great models.

Okay. Done.

Have fun!
