Just wondering how the quails get black spots on their eggs. One time i found one just layed and when I scratched the egg the black stuff wasn't solid yet so I could scratch patterns on it

The egg pigmentation depends on the hen. You can wash the eggs with water and wipe the coloring off to draw something on it and then blow it. I do that when I have some old eggs. Coat it in clear fingernail polish and sell them.

It is basically hemoglobin (blood) , or as JJ points out. "BLACK SPOT FAIRIES"

Either one works for me

Ok, we are all friends here, but...Me thinks you have entirely to much free time on your hands!

I'm kidding!

Yeah, I get bored in late winter to early spring. From mid December to early February I am a proffesional piddler.
