I am absolutely paranoid about this. Is there a way to know if you accidentally pushed too far in, or hit a vein, or hit something you werent supposed to hit? I know if you hit a vein and you pull slightly back on the injection before you push the medication in you will know since blood will show. I did my first injection today on a hen with tylan 50 for respiratory illness. I pinched some skin on the back between the wings and pushed the needle into the skin probably about 1/4th inch, and when i tried pulling back on the needle plunger, it wouldnt budge. At the time i assumed that meant that i didnt hit a blood vessel, and i pushed the medication in. Then I thought omg what if the needle plunger was stuck?! and that I did hit a blood vessel?! Its been an hour and the hen doesnt seem to be affected by it, though there was a little bit of blood at the site, kinda like when humans get a shot. Just wanted to make sure I did it right, or if i did it wrong, how will i know?
