How do you avoid tracking chicken poo all through your house?

I have a pair of rubber boots that I keep on the back porch that are for the chicken coop/run only and I just pop them off when I get back to the door.

Yep, a good pair of Mucks with shallow tread that slip on and off. If you want to live the country lifestyle you're going to have to deal with some poop. My chickens aren't so much the problem as are my Geese and Turkeys.

A good stiff bristled door mat outside, a couple of rag rugs just inside the doors and boot trays beside each door. House rule is: No outdoor shoes inside, slippers only. Most guests, unless they're city folk, just kick off their boots as they come in the door behind us. Walking around in socks keeps the wood floors shiney anyhow....

they are known as poopoo shoes, shoes that are on their last legs. grandkids love calling them poopoo shoes....
we have some long rubber shoe/boot mats and a stool and slip them on and off there in the winter in the utility room, in summer on the outside porch.

i take my shoes off at the door, but then i sometimes forget, then i feel like things are living in the outdoor shoes and wont wear them anymore.

i guess im weird.

so for now. The house has twigs, dirt dirt and sometimes a chunk of poo in it. it doesnt help that DF and BIL are riding 4 wheelers in the GA clay all day everyday and going in/out. I quit basically.

Someone last year posted a pic of the most HILARIOUS home made poo shoes for muddy weather. It had a two by four sole, and two cross bars like an old fashioned japanese shoes to keep most the walking surface away from the poop! Seemed like about two by two, four inches across walking tread. I wish I knew who it was posted that pic!

in spring and fall i fall alot.doing splits and back flips throwing my back out. falling in the mud. we have alot of clay around here. where shoes with a good tread is a most. it is hard to where crocs beacuse there is no tread. i can feel my back hurting thinking about those shoes!
