How do you avoid tracking chicken poo all through your house?

Chicken tractor.
Only smooth soled shoes when in that area and a boot scraper at each door.
Tread soled shoes/boots are impossible to get all the poo out of.

My question is how do you keep the chickens out of the house, Poo on the shoe is one issue but the chickens sneaking in when you didn't close the door all the way and the poo on your floor is another problem (but it makes me smile every time I find one wondering around my kitchen checking out the cat food)

I have yard shoes that stay by the back door. I told the kids pooped(chicken, dog,or whatever) shoes get tossed unless THEY want to clean the nooks and crannies.

Lol,on the chickens in the house. I have one in a cage and one AM I forgot to close the lid,but she was a good girl and didn't jump out!

All visitors get a plastic grocery bag to step into and then the tops of the bags get tied around the ankle. That's how I do up my grandkids shoes when they visit too.
As for me, I keep pink crocs at the inside of the back door, on an easy to clean tile floor. Now that the snow season is here, I use rubber boots that come up above
my calves. They're about three sizes too large for me, so they're real real easy to slip on and kick off. Home Depot's paint department has shoe guards (booties) that are like
"shower caps" for over your shoes. They're made of a white mesh fabric, (kind of like a tight weave cheesecloth) and slip on and off over your shoes easily. They're not waterproof, but the mesh is so fine that
all poo stays stuck on the outside of the booties and I can use them over and over again. I only use them if I'm wearing laced up shoes and am feeling like it's too much
trouble to untie them and change into my crocs.

:lautake ur darn boots or shoes off

that should help

We have garden clogs or boots that are worn outside and then come off right inside the door on the mat. Those shoes never get walked around in in the house. They are our "coop shoes" but we all generally wear them anytime we go out in the yard.

I have certain shoes, that go in/out of the coop when cleaning. i have walked thru the house in error with those shoes....... i have lots of cleaners if i see something that even might look like chicken poop!!

I had one hen that was refusing to go into the hen house at night. We would have to do the search find her and then bring her down. One night I could not find her but knew she was pretty resourceful and I didn't worry too much. The next morning I smelled her before I got to the kitchen she had gotten in the house and slept in the pantry. She walked out acting annoyed that I woke her so early. I had to scrub the walls! uhg - I do love her

Okay, I just have to laugh at this one. What do I do about poop...why bring it in of course!! I have 4 horses, 8 chickens (bator is heating up) and 30 goats. I ALWAYS have poop on my shoes...I'm lucky when I don't have poop all over me! This time of year we are ankle deep in mud in places that I have to walk. My goats jump up on me, I've fallen in the muck..you name it, its happened. So I do change my shoes at the door, but it really doesn't help here!! I've learned to deal. I wouldn't trade my country life for anything!

Vicki:thumbsup
