How do you Calibrate A Hygrometer

Easy!

All you need is water, a large bottle cap or something similar that can stand getting wet, salt, and a plastic baggie that seals.

Fill the cap with plain table salt, NaCl. Use water to dampen the salt. You don't want to soak it so it is fluid, or dry and clumpy, just evenly damp. If you use too much water just pour off excess out of the cap and maybe add a bit more salt. Then, seal the cap of wet salt and the hygrometer in the plastic baggie and wait for 8-10 hours. If the hygrometer is spot on, it should read 75%. If it reads 72%, for example, then it is off 3%, and you know that the specific hygrometer is +/- approximately 3%. Makes it MUCH easier to figure out humidity.

Might have use too much water, if it is over saturated it could skew the humidity, push it too high. Maybe try again, use less water, and see if the results change.
