How do you clean Pine Tar from a chicken?

I used some pine tar on one of our chickens to stop some pecking. What is the best way to clean that area after the problem is taken care of?

Gosh, what a mess! I would rub peanut butter all over the tar, then wipe that up, and bathe the whole chicken in something like Dawn dish soap to remove the oil from the peanut butter. Good luck!

I just used a dry washcloth to wipe off the excess. What little is left wears off over a short period of time.

Just an update, the back end of Nancy is stained brown from the pine tar. It did not come out with a little washing, so we decided to leave it... it doesnt seem to bother her

ETA: Some of my chickens got into blue paint. Bluey still wears a little bit of it, it's how I tell her apart from a sister that looks (otherwise) identical. Don't know how I'm going to tell them apart once she moults and loses her blue speckles.
