For all you chicken breeders out there how do you decide what you want to charge per chick or per hen? How do you decide what is a reasonable price? Thanks.

I have not sold any chickens yet but i look online everyday. It really depends on what type of Chickens they are and if they are purebred or not. I hope somebody that has sold chickens can help.
When I sell chicks it depends on age, the ability to sex them, and breed. For chicks still under the light, straight run, I would sell for $3 to $5. $3 for common breeds $5 for rare. For chicks over 6 weeks old I'd sell for $5 straight run, $8-$15 for sexed pullets (again depending on breed and how sure I am of gender). For pullets about to start laying $10 to $20. For Laying hens $15 to $30. Roosters, depending on breed and age, anywhere from free to $25. This is just what I do. Hope this helps.
