How do you feed your chicks?

Do you leave lots of food out for them to graze all day, or only feed them a certain amount, so many times a day?

We always leave a feeder out all day/night so they can peck at it when they're hungry, I've heard of success both ways, but I would advise just having it readily available.

All my chicks are fed 24/7 until they are on the dirt---then if they can free range some I give them enough for a good snack then turned out and another good snack in the evening. I try to feed them to where they have very little left at night---do not want to be feeding other things after dark. but now with a dozen cats---I rarely ever see a rat.

I've always fed them as much as they want whenever they want, at least until they get a bit older.

Growing chicks need unlimited access to feed.

All my birds have feed available all the time. I do like the feeders that limit spillage, and they will eat less feed when free ranging. Mary
