How do you feed your freerange (urban) chickens while on vacation ?

I had my first experience with this last week while we were out of town. I asked the next door neighbor to check in on them and change their water daily. In exchange she got to keep all the eggs she collected while we were away. She did not have to enter our house, just came through the back gate which I left unlocked.

Maybe something like this would work, (or could be a disaster if you have chicks)

Thankfully, when gone I have a family member step in for chicken sitting. Having a person drop in is a very good thing just in case. As long as your flock is small it shouldn't be to difficult for someone to handle even if they have no chicken experience.
