How do you find an "older" female duck?

We got 3 ducks from a hatchery, and unfortunately 2 passed away. We have one duck that is 6 weeks old and we're trying to add 2 more asap so she's not alone. We can't wait 6+ weeks from a hatchery. I've tried searching Facebook groups but almost got scammed twice! I am in northern Illinois.

Are there any animal swap meets in your area? I'd also check your local feed store. Sometime people put up ads in them.

When I needed ducklings as companion to a single rescued duckling, I checked FB market place and Craig's list but didn't find any. I joined a local-to-me farm and garden group on FB and found quite a few folks with ducklings, but all more than 1 hours drive away.

I then advertised on NextDoor which is very local. I actually got 2 slightly older ducklings than my rescue when he was 6 weeks from a wild life rehabber. Those two and mine were together for 2.5 years until one that had special needs from a raccoon attack, died. But by that time I had several more rescues of my own to keep my ducks company!!.

Try putting out a request on NextDoor, or joining your local Buy Nothing FB group. That way anyone who responds will be close by.

Good luck!
