In my experience, a hen will go broody whether there are eggs left in the coop or not. You could - as suggested previously - put fake eggs in the nest to try to "encourage" a hen, but it's not a guarantee that it WILL happen. I don't have silkies, so I will not advise you on that.alright! Sadly cant leave eggs in there unless my dad sees them broody, he fears that they will go canibal XD, and I might be getting myself a silkie! (dad want to make sure they are useful chickens befor i can get one; Egg production, Meatproduction, Chick Production)
Don't ever apologize for asking questions. This is how we learn. Just sift through the information you receive, and do some research on your own as well. There are a lot of very experienced chicken keepers here on BYC. Keep reading and learning and you'll be just fine.yes ma'am of course! Im excited for the spring time, and learning is what I like to do, especially when it comes to animals. sorry for asking to many questions.
No need for you to apologize - you simply asked a question. Sometimes things get sidetracked when things are stated as fact that may not be so and corrections need to be made.sorry for the arguing I didnt mean to cause any QAQ

IMHO the drawback with hatching your own babies is I have always hatched so many roosters.
FWIW, I read that someone did a study with birds and found that a diet high in sorghum resulted in more females. From my experience with sorghum as feed, chickens weren't initially crazy about it, but got used to and ate it
