How do you get a chicken to go broody

alright! Sadly cant leave eggs in there unless my dad sees them broody, he fears that they will go canibal XD, and I might be getting myself a silkie! (dad want to make sure they are useful chickens befor i can get one; Egg production, Meatproduction, Chick Production)
In my experience, a hen will go broody whether there are eggs left in the coop or not. You could - as suggested previously - put fake eggs in the nest to try to "encourage" a hen, but it's not a guarantee that it WILL happen. I don't have silkies, so I will not advise you on that.

yes ma'am of course! Im excited for the spring time, and learning is what I like to do, especially when it comes to animals. sorry for asking to many questions.
Don't ever apologize for asking questions. This is how we learn. Just sift through the information you receive, and do some research on your own as well. There are a lot of very experienced chicken keepers here on BYC. Keep reading and learning and you'll be just fine.
sorry for the arguing I didnt mean to cause any QAQ
No need for you to apologize - you simply asked a question. Sometimes things get sidetracked when things are stated as fact that may not be so and corrections need to be made.

My chickens go broody when the days start to get longer and there is more sunshine. I have loved having them hatch eggs. It is way easier than taking care of baby chicks. MaMa does all the work. IMHO the drawback with hatching your own babies is I have always hatched so many roosters. I have also taken a broody hen and snuck baby chicks under her at night. That is the very best. I get hens and she does the work. I use golf balls. I dont know if they work or not. It does seem that my hens like to lay in certain boxes. they will sit and wait till a chicken leaves then jump in and lay another egg right there.

True, but it's no different than incubator hatching or buying straight run. FWIW, I read that someone did a study with birds and found that a diet high in sorghum resulted in more females. From my experience with sorghum as feed, chickens weren't initially crazy about it, but got used to and ate it
