How do you get free range hens to come in at night?

We had 13 guinea hens, and we let 1 hen out the first night, then 2 out the next night b/c they like to be together so they didn't go far.
Is it the same with chickens? I know I still have a ways until the chicks are old enough to go out as they are only 21/2 weeks, but I am just trying to figure out what we are doing.
Thank you.

I let mine free range during the day letting them out in the morning and at about the same time every night I go out and feed them and when they here the food the all come running to the pen. WE lock them in their pen at night. At first to get them to come I would take the container of food to where they were and shake it as I walked back towards their pen and they just followed then once they were close enough I poured the food in the feeders and backed away and they enter the pen. now when its feeding time they are already waiting at their pen. Good luck. Mine never really strayed too far from where their waters.
