You want a blue colored chicken and not the blue egg gene correct? Actually a lot of breeds come in a blue. What breed are you looking for that you can't find in blue?

There are plenty of people with Blue Jersey Giants (I myself just hatched out some beautiful blue, black, and splash chicks!

) There's also a guy who breeds gorgeous blue Turkens, also Nava has some as well.

Blues aren't a rare color at all.

We had 2 blue Japanese hens we got from a local breeder, but we lost them to a bobcat last summer.

I agree, they exist in all of those breeds. Hope you find what you are looking for!

there are also lavender birds which may look similar to blue but blue generally also comes with it's friends black and splash. lavender is a recessive gene so both parent have to have it for the babies to be lavender.

Yes, but lavender is not available in JG's, I haven't seen any mention of lav. turkens (show girls yes, turkens no), and I don't think I've ever seen lavender Japanese either.

Blue is much easier to find, and as another poster said, post a wanted ad for those breeds on the forum. You'll find what you want
