How do you get your chicks to grow up to be lap chickens?!

We have had chickens often on for a long time all of which are lap chickens. None of them really start getting like that until they're older. Just go out and hang with them every day. Set up a chair or something to sit out with them. Eventually they'll just start flying up on your lap.
They at five weeks jump on my hand to come out snuggle up to me and so on!!!! Thanks for your information!!!

Question for you with lap chickens:
Background
I have a pair of chicks- just 3 weeks old. I've been keeping them indoors & letting them roam in an indoor pen everyday.
I have 6 laying pullets & a young sweet roo out in a coop/run. (All purchased as pullets, no chicks.)
I've prepared a grow out crate inside the run.

Question
How will I continue to bond with them when I put them in the crate inside the run? What age should they go in crate?

Right now I'm sitting inside a pen with the chicks outside the run. The others have come to take a look. But once they go in the grow out crate, I won't be able to take them out for fear of them getting picked on.

Just trying to figure out the integration thing (my first chicks) along with the taming aspect.

Pic of crate.
