How do you get your rooster to like one of your Hens?

I want my rooster to breed with this one hen and he seems not to be intrested in her

If he is the only cockerel around and she is both healthy and in lay, he is likely already breeding her. At this time of year, many birds are moulting; a moulting hen is not laying and therefore unreceptive to a rooster's charms.

Apologies; I was unaware that you had tried them together. It may be that one of them is sterile; I have a brown leghorn hen who cannot produce fertile eggs.

I know she is not infertile I use to have another rooster and she had chicks about 2 years ago with that rooster. Penning together how long do I leave them together?

How old is she? As birds age, their ability to produce healthy offspring will diminish, just as with humans.

What's your ratio regarding males:females. Most males can cover 8-12 females comfortably, but some breeds and individuals can have difficulty with so many, or even need more.

she is 5 and we have 46 hens with one rooster he easily covers at least 20 of them

I have a 6yo hen whos still fertile, but at 5 years old she could be pressing her luck. How old is the rooster they can become infertile sooner than hens. Have you tested him over another hen to insure he is fertile? You can aways artificially inseminate her with his sperm.

Also I never run more than 8 hens over 1 rooster to insure fertility. 1 rooster over 20 hens is alot to cover lol.
