How do you hand feed a kit???

I have resigned myself to the fact that this one will not make it overnight. I have tried, and apparently failed. 8 out of 9 kits surviving is a good rate I think. I hope.

It's sad and can be discouraging to lose kits, especially first starting out. You didn't fail. Just by nature not all kits are born to survive, so please don't feel alone or like it's anything you did wrong. Your doe sounds like she's being a great mom with the rest being strong, healthy kits.

How is your little runt doing today Deb? I'm so sorry to hear this I know they all looked like they were doing so well. I hope he/she pulls through and no you didn't fail sometimes especially with a bigger litter one or two will always be a little lacking and as hard as it is I feel it is easier to loose them early than to have a sickly kit that has survived to weaning (either bottle or doe nursed) only to not thrive away from the mom and loosing the kit then.

I hope the kit perks up for you and maybe has just missed a few feedings than have anything actually wrong with the little one. Keep us posted please.

We tried feeding it several times today, and it refused over and over, and now it is gone. Just not meant to be, I guess.
