How do you handle unwanted evangelists who knock at your door?

Well, you asked why people get so upset at JW & LDS, there it is, you're all bugging us, we say so, you keep at it. It's not a hard concept.

But when I say I was RAISED BY WITNESSES I think that gives me an informed opinion to disregard it. It's not like I'm not familiar with it, I spent my whole childhood in halls!

Redhen...there are so many reasons why people don't listen...and yes,i'm sure that's one.I personally do not bother people that make it clear they do not want to talk about it....some continue when perhaps they should not...I was merely joking with her about reading it first....

Yes, I would hope being raised in it you would know...some things have changed but the general idea is the same...I don't know why they have not stopped calling on you...sorry it bothers you so

And yet you still claim that it's not a matter of badgering people... Now to be fair your local hall may respect people who say "stop comming by" realize that there are halls who do not respect this, and that's where alot of the frustration comes from.

I grew up in one of those "evangelizing" groups. Just so you know, if you take ANY literature they will come back, if you try to have a debate, they will come back, if you chat with them they will come back, if you tell them you already know the bible they will come back, if you say that you have your own religion they will come back.
You must be firm but kind and say no, I am not interested, they are taught to try to overcome this answer. Just repeat it and quietly close the door. Unless you enjoy the conversation, do not participate at all or they will come back. Any even then, if you live in an area with a high "evangelizer" community...they will still come back. It is at the core of what they believe....they MUST go preaching door to door.

My religion now?? Chickens!!!!!! Lol

Yes, you sound like a normal person. Trying to "help", in your own way, and not someone that is OVER-zelous.....
I understand the asking once..... it cant hurt to try...

But its the ones that harass that cause SO many problems in your church..and really turn SO many people off. Actually, it can be a bit scary to people. Almost cult like.... and most folks dont want to touch that at ALL.
Drink the grape kool-aid and all that stuff.... know what i mean?
Really, that should be addressed.
