How do you handle unwanted evangelists who knock at your door?

No...but the message is more important...and that's where it comes onto the home owner IMO to recycle it then

I've sometimes been given the same thing many times before, I recycle the extras

I do! I use it as kindling paper in my wood stove.

But think of all the people that don't use it in some way, it just gets tossed. It would be nice if they weren't leaving it after I ask them not to, don't ya think?

Agreed...albeit they are imperfect and it seems people notice the negatives more easily than the positives usually.Most JW's i know are really good people trying hard to help others.Period.

Alas, that's the sticking point isn't it? You call it "help" we view it as "harassment". The way I and many others see it, faith is a private thing between you and whatever god/gods you do/don't believe in. I'd be equally offended if you walked up and asked me about my underpinnings. Why? because those things are private, and i don't discuss private things with random strangers who show up to pester me bi-weekly.

Lol....nope....don't wanna know anyone's underpinnings! Yes, it is help...and it's an education for people...take it or leave it...but not before you have enough knowledge of it to make a decision should you disregard it

Right. That's the thing. I actually wouldn't object to them making ONE attempt, but once I say I have different beliefs and no thanks, they should leave it at that. But instead they come back repeatedly and try and debate my beliefs and tell me why my beliefs are "wrong" (as if there is such a thing as wrong beliefs). I don't do that to them, so why not return the same respect? That's the point where it changes from help to harassment.
