how do you introduce a duckling to a 4 week old duck?

With Wobbles hormone level [any drakes] this times of year you probably will just have to keep them separated till fall where they can still see each other but no contact, Hopefully once the hormones start waning he'll behave like a gentleman. [well at least not attack Bean. ]

That's what I was afraid of. Man, I wish calls' laying season wasn't so short, I know the timing couldn't be worse on this. I'm concerned that by the time Fall rolls around any of her behaviors will be locked in and she won't bond with him at all.

Once he is nicer to be around, she may come around.

It has been only 10 days and these two are literally inseparable, they even sleep together at night. When I try to put them in desperate sleeping quarters they will cry all night even though they can still see each other it's just not good enough I guess. Thank.you everyone for your kind words and awesome wisdom. Patience, time, snacks, sunshine, and love were the main factors in this union of a lifelong friendship

Look at that so sweet, not everyone has such a relationship happen so fast but does prove one thing flock animals need other flock animals to be happy. Don't you dare leave now, we want to know how this relationship continues

That is so sweet about the two of them getting along like that. I love how bonded they are. And you can tell Gunter's so secure being cuddled next to Marceline.

Today was marceline and gunters first time hanging out without me holding Gunter or being behind a mesh barrier they enjoyed snack time with their peas marceline even let Gunter lay near, not next to, but near her for dry time she did try to peck at her but I would keep petting both to show they are family I would gently move or block marcelines face when she looked like she would peck too hard at Gunter overall progress is definitely being made

It's good to see them getting used to each other's company! I'm hoping my two accept their new pen mates as soon as they are a little bigger. We just got two pilgrim goslings. You're babies are adorable together!

here's a little update, we've been getting them use to being outdoors during the day. The weather here is a good 85 degrees so that helps a lot. The front porch is shady though they can come and go from their dog house I keep the door open to the house screen door closed though so I always have my ears and eyes on them they cried a little the first day but quickly adapted and love the fresh air. They never swim unattended though still as Gunter is way to small but they now sleep together swim together forage together and poop together. Its quite beautiful. And they still love to be around my family and me and have tummy scratches and cuddle time the picture of the dog and ducks in their house is my dog saumbu guarding them he loves them and always makes sure nothing goes near them even chases away the bluebirds I know this post is about ducks bonding but my dogs have also gone through a transition and they too have become family to the ducks

so this is probably going to sound really crazy but ducks on porches are very very messy who would have thought so we moved them onto the area right next to the porch they didn't like.it at first but they seem to be getting use to it slowly they have their food water and a nice little patch of dandelion leaves

They are only out there in the daytime when your home? I don't think that lil thing would keep out a predator if it wanted in bad enough.
