While swathing hay today, we accidentley killed a hen. When we came back around the field we saw her and she was sitting on 15 eggs. When I candled them you could still see the babies moving. How would I know how far along they are and when to quit turning? I put them in the incubator with duck eggs that are supposed to hatch in 10 days. The duck eggs are from another swathing accident that my neighbor had.

Thank you for any information.

Wow I think I would put a NO TRESPASSING SIGN UP or a sign ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I feel sorry for the birds. I would definatlely place them in the incubator and just keep turning them. It won't hurt them to keep turning them. Just keep watching them for when they do hatch so they don't get stuck in the turner.
Depending on how full the egg was when you candled them you can kinda get an idea. If you saw little eyes there probably about a week if it looked like the egg was full then they are pretty close to hatch. But now knowing exactly when she layed them there is really no way to know.
Good Luck,
Patty
