How do you know quarantine works

I quarantined Audrey and Bianco when they arrived. Got fecal samples checked and they were positive for coccidia. I treated and re-checked the fecals, at which point they were clear.

You can't catch everything in q-tine, but it's sure better than nothing! I'm not about to risk my chix!

The time in quarantine also lets the new chickens, who are usually stressed by all the changes, get used to the new place. Stress lowers the immune system and is the other reason new chickens are more vulnerable to either something they're carrying or something your chickens could expose them to, that they're carrying. At least this gives them time to get used to you, the food, the water, strange noises, other animals on the property, etc.
