How do you know when they start laying??

Are you feeding laying pellets? That may make a difference.

No eggs, no squawking. I'll try the golf balls and keep them in the coop. We feed them layer pellets but when we go to put them up at night we bring out a dish of whatever we have on hand. Could that be hurting the process?

Specifically, we feed them Purina Layena sun fresh recipe.

If you're mainly feeding them layer pellets, diet shouldn't be an issue. People give their chickens treats and kitchen scraps all the time.

So...? Any eggs yet?

Still no eggs. I'm quitting. I guess they'll lay when they're ready.
