How do you manage treating 5 chickens with bumblefoot?

Please let me know how you end up using it. Just following their guidelines for birds, I'm wondering if I should just feed her the 7 drops to make sure she gets the right dosage.

I have doxy pills and put them directly in the mouth. prefer that way to make sure they got it.

if your doxy is liquid you can put a drop or 2 on the wound as well as in the mouth. it will work faster.

no need of x-ray for bumblefoot. you can use blu-kote on her wound and keep her caged till she gets better.

I use doxycycline meant for human. better quality and much cheaper than vet medicines.
What is blu-kote for? Is it so you don't have to wrap them?

Unfortunately, I can't get doxycycline for humans without a prescription either. I'm actually allergic to it so my doctor isn't going to prescribe it for me anyway.

blu-kote is a germicidal, fungicidal, wound dressing and healing aid effective against both bacterial and fungus infections most common in skin lesions of domestic animals. Kills Ringworm and fungus infections. Dries up blisters and pox-like scabby sores or lesions.
Can you use this with Neosporin? I've been using Vetericyn, but since she has an open wound now, I'm using chlorhexidine with her Epsom salt foot soaks.

@chickengr how would you treat an infected bumblefoot like this? This was from last week and it started turning green so I cut it out while she was on amoxicillin. I didn't see a plug or pus but just a lot of blood, but when I checked two days ago, it looks like there's some pus on the wound and the surrounding areas look either infected or bruised. In hindsight, I should've tried a needle first to see if I could extract any pus. She had a black plug on both feet a few weeks ago but I was going on vacation and couldn't treat her until I got back. But by the time I came back, I think it spread and got in deeper because I couldn't see the black plug anymore.

I'm going to check the wound later today and plan to give her an Epsom salt foot soak with chlorhexidine and wrap with Neosporin after. Her course of amoxicillin (10 days) is done on Sunday so I can see what it looks like then. If it still doesn't look like it's improving I'll give her probiotics and yogurt until the doxycycline I ordered gets here on Thursday and start her on that then for another 10 days.
