I am getting ready to process 5 Cornish X chickens and am trying to decide how to package them for the freezer. I don't think anywhere around here sells the shrink bags, so I am especially curious as to other methods some of you may use. All input would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can order shrink bags online. We've also put them in freeze ziplocs and then placed the bag into water to push the air out. It's sort of like a homemade shrink wrap bag.

I did my last few in ziplock gallon freezer bags.

I made sure the chickens were very dry (no excess moisture) prior to sealing them up. I used my mouth to suction all of the air out of them.

We kept them in the freezer for a few weeks, and they tasted great once we thawed and cooked.

I also have a turkey in the freezer, he is only seran wrapped.. I couldn't find any bags big enough for an 18 lb bird!!

Thankfully, turkey day is only a few weeks away.

We found huge ziploc storage bags at Walmart that hold those huge turkeys with room to spare. I want to say they're 10 gallon bags - expensive but they work!
